Natty's Christmas dinner is my Roman Empire

That's right, Uber Eats Restaurant of the Year winner Natty's is serving up the best Christmas dinner in town this year, and that's coming from someone who prides themselves on making a banging Christmas dinner.

What we ate & drank:

Natty's Jerk Chicken - no explanation necessary

Pigs in Blankets - apparently, he put on 20, and when he came to serve, he was only given 8 back...👀

Vegan Pigs in Blankets - delicious

Jerk Stuffing Balls - no more sage and onion for me

Roast Potatoes - perfectly fluffy

Rice and Peas - which, according to Natty, you have to have with every single meal (I don't make the rules, Natty does)

Christmas Slaw - Brussels sprouts and apple in their manggonaise, i.e. the only way I'm eating Brussels sprouts from now on

Gravy - jerk BBQ, Cranberry and Sorrel gravy

Mac and Cheese - no explanation necessary

Hot Sorrel Tea - Natty said that people in Jamaica drink Sorrel all year round, but it definitely has a Christmassy vibe. It's usually cold when drunk and has rum in it. It's made from hibiscus, steeped like tea, and then kept in the fridge.

Chocolate Tea - Usually, this is made with cacao and lots of cinnamon and nutmeg, but this version is made with really high-quality milk chocolate, condensed milk, and spices. Don't let the condensed milk put you off. I'm not an overly sweet person, and this was really good. It wasn't too sweet at all.

Plant'in Cinnamon Rolls - for dessert, Natty bought over some plant'in cinnamon rolls. He explained that they're always looking for ways to reduce food waste, and his team are constantly trying out new things. IMO, they need to add those to their menu ASAP.

Natty explained to us that in his house, their Christmas dinner is a mix of a Sunday roast and a Jamaican Sunday roast
, and you won't find turkey on the menu because he hates turkey, and nothing goes on the menu if he doesn't like it. This clearly works because (again) they won Uber Eats Restaurant of the Year.

It's more than just the food; going to Natty's is an experience. The vibes are immaculate, the team is excellent, and everything has been carefully thought through. There's stuff for the kids to do and eat. There's a sandy beach (no longer can you say that Portsmouth doesn't have a sandy beach), and there are so many options for veggies and vegans.

You know that when you go to Natty's, you're going to leave feeling happy, full and a little bit warm and fuzzy inside...although that could be the rum.

This meal was gifted, but I have a feeling we'll be back for a couple more Christmas dinners before they end on 23rd December.

On a personal note, I just wanted to say a huge thanks to Natty and the team for having us and I couldn't be more delighted to see them reaching such highs, it couldn't of happened to a better bunch of people and I can't wait to see how Natty's grows.
